SEASONAL THEMES

Autumn

Starting with Autumn, the end and the beginning a mellow time of ripe fruits & harvest festival, the brilliance of Autumn colours. A time to reflect on the success of seasons past, plan away for the future, calm & relaxing.
Seasonal jobs
Lawns to feed with Autumn feed, check trellis fences & plants on supports, repair or replace before winter winds cause damage. Purchase & plant Spring flowering bulbs. Winter pansy & primrose for containers, baskets & the garden.

Winter

Nature at rest, a time for survival of the fittest, short days, long shadows. The splendor of mature deciduous trees in silhouette. Hard times & frost, snow, winds, & wet. All at rest.
Seasonal jobs
Purchases of Christmas trees for the festive season. In the garden, pruning of trees & bushes. Grease bands on fruit trees, carry out winter hygiene, sprays and plan to keep roses and fruit clean during the forthcoming season. Any alteration to garden layout, new beds and lawns laid. All best carried out in the winter months. Preparing and planning ahead.

Spring

Natures new beginning, all rush and hurry to capture all life's energies. The thrill of small seeds bursting into life and a reminder that deciduous bushes and trees are far more than dead looking twigs.
Seasonal jobs
A very busy time. Lawns to be fed & treated to control moss and weeds, roses especially need feeding and spraying to control pests and diseases. Plans for summer bedding displays, purchase plants for the garden, containers & baskets. Baskets need a substantial bracket securely fixed. If patios have gathered moss during the wet Winter days, a good patio jetwash clean will restore to almost a new look. Plan summer barbeques & stock up with charcoal.

Summer

The heat of the day!!! Summer flowers fill the air with heavenly scent, bee's buzzing, busy collecting pollen and nectar to make honey. The ripening fruit for winter store, and then, the thunder storm, just as the barbeque gets underway.
Seasonal jobs
Summer pruning of bushes, hedges and roses, continue spraying to control pests and diseases including slugs. Purchases of plants for new beds.
Plant gaps in displays, using mature pot bedding plants. Occasional barbeques, but most of all enjoy the garden.
